PTY allocation request failed on channel 0

I am getting this error message when trying to ssh into my account (ising). I have no idea what that means but it did work this morning. Could you help please, Thanks!

I am also seeing the same error

Thanks for letting us know -- it looks like one of our servers had a problem. Should be fixed now, but let us know if you're still having problems.

Thanks! It's working now.

I'm seeing this error today:

$ ssh pa <<<<<<:>~ PythonAnywhere SSH. Help @ https://www.pythonanywhere.com/wiki/SSHAccess PTY allocation request failed on channel 0

Is this related to a server issue as well?

Sorry about that, it should be fine now. We're looking into ways we can monitor the number of ptys to be able to anticipate that problem...

I'm getting the same problem. Is it the servers again?

Looks like it. We've rebooted the culprit, should work now. Sorry about that!

Thanks :D

I have the same problem! Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening in the first place?

Hey im now getting the error

PTY allocation request failed on channel 0

Is it me? or the servers?

Hi @tomta20014, that was a problem with one of the servers. should be fixed now. There's nothing y'all can do I'm afraid, it's something we need to work on. If it's any consolation, it's already more rare than it used to be! But we need to do better...

Thanks, it's working again.

Getting PTY allocation request failed on channel 0 error this morning

This is logging in from a Mac OS terminal. Worked fine yesterday.

Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know. I can't see any problems with any of the console servers at the moment -- is it still happening for you? If so, could you check which console server it's happening for you on? It should display that just as you start the console, in the bottom left, just before it displays "Loading console..."

Thanks for checking - console via dashboard fine - no worries. Using ssh directly gave the error. On Mac OSX I was able to get in on one terminal but not the other. Now both terminals are working! Guess it's something at my end then.

Cheers,

David

Hi David -- several other people reported similar-sounding problems, so I think the problem was definitely at our end. I think one of our console servers must have got clogged up -- without alerting us -- and then fixed itself. I'll investigate further, in particular as to why we weren't alerted!

Hi, I'm having this same issue right now on OS X when connecting to the server with SSH: PTY allocation request failed on channel 0.

Hi, same issue here on Ubuntu 14.04 when connecting via SSH : "PTY allocation request failed on channel 0".

should be okay now- let us know if otherwise

Solved on my side. Thanks.

Hi, again this error tonight... "PTY allocation request failed on channel 0", ubuntu 16.04

We also face similar problem with "PTY allocation request failed on channel 2" while trying to ssh in from our Mac

Is this on ssh.pythonanywhere.com? I've just double-checked the server, and it looks OK. I can ssh in without trouble.

Yes, on
ssh.pythonanywhere.com
. But this morning, it looks to be OK for me.

I face similar problem again today "PTY allocation request failed on channel 2".

hi there, sorry about that! should be fixed now- let us know if otherwise!

same error "PTY allocation request failed on channel 0" in ubuntu please help me out !!

Everything looks good on our end. Where are you getting the error from?
