Major upgrade scheduled 19th June 10:30am UTC

On Wednesday 19 June at 10.30 am UTC,we are making a major systems upgrade to PythonAnywhere. This is expected to require 20 minutes of downtime. In the long run this will result in increased stability and improved performance. We have been testing this for the last month and are comfortable that it is now ready for release.

Because PythonAnywhere is a very open environment it is difficult to predict every possible problem that might arise. But if anything does happen we aim to fix it immediately.

After the release process we will be automatically testing that all Web Developer accounts' custom domain web apps are returning a non error HTTP response. If you see anything unusual please get in touch with us directly (support@pythonanywhere.com) and let us know.

Wish us luck :-)

...and we're back. Everything seems to be running OK, with the exception of some web2py sites. We're investigating now.

It's worth noting that web2py.com and web2pyslices.com, our two biggest web2py sites, are fine. It's just a small number of lower-traffic ones. We suspect it might be a case of which web2py version people are using. Investigations continue -- we'll fix it.

Okay! We've fixed the Web2Py issue. The server name that Nginx was sending through was incorrect and causing problems. Though it probably shouldn't have. So we might submit a patch back to Web2py about it.

All of the problems that we're aware of that were caused by this release have now been fixed. If you see anything that's obviously broken, please do let us know!
