To be more specific, I just upgraded my account to paid and repointed my SMTP email sender to our mailgun account. Mail is not getting out. mailgun is working fine from my test setup on PC. Do I need to wait until tomorrow before it will work?

No, but you do need to restart your consoles and reload your web app.
